Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with the American Hospital Association’s Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMD) to talk about the 100×2030 initiative of sponsoring 100 women of color within the next decade. I discuss 10 ways to sponsor women for future career growth.
I have the honor of serving on the SHSMD Board of Directors and can attest to how critical this association is to further the healthcare strategy and business development profession. Healthcare strategy is a discipline that needs diverse perspectives and leadership to improve access to care for our most underserved communities. I fundamentally believe that greater inclusion within healthcare strategy and business development will help executives, leaders, and associates make better, more informed decisions that improve healthcare for all.
Sponsorship is the vehicle by which we increase diversity and inclusion in healthcare. My hope is that more women of color will consider a career in healthcare strategy and business development as a viable approach to positively impacting healthcare and making meaningful change in care delivery.
